Who we are

Homello is a trading name of Team Dimensions Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company no. 08348964) with its registered office at 128 City Road, London EC1V 2NX. Homello lists homes for sale and to rent, new-build developments and sold prices across the UK, on this website and in the Homello apps for iPhone, iPad and Android.

This notice explains what we do with personal information when you use the site or the apps, create an account, send an enquiry or ask for a valuation. Where it says "the app", it means either of them. Team Dimensions Ltd is the data controller for that information, and "we" and "us" in this notice mean Team Dimensions Ltd.

What we collect

When you send an enquiry we collect the details you enter: your name, email address, phone number and postcode if you give them, your reason for contacting the agent or developer, your current situation and timeframe, and any message you write.

When you ask for a valuation we collect the address you want valued, what you tell us about the property and your timing, and your name, email address and phone number if you give one. We save your answers as you go, so we can see where people stop.

If you create an account we collect your name, email address and password, and your phone number and home address if you add them. Your password is held by our sign-in provider, Clerk, and we never see it. Your account also keeps the homes and searches you save, the homes you hide from your searches and any reason you give for hiding one, the lists of homes you make or join, your email alert settings, and a list of the enquiries you send while signed in. A home you hide on the website without signing in is remembered by your browser for that visit only, and reaches us only if you then sign in. To protect your account, Clerk records the browser or device you sign in from. If you turn on notifications in the app, we keep your device's notification token with your account so we can send them; they stop when you turn them off in the app's Settings, sign out or delete your account.

When you search we use the place or postcode you enter to find homes. In the app, "Near me" uses your device's location, only when you tap it, and only to run that search. The Android app rounds it to about a kilometre before sending it.

On the website we also use Google Analytics and PostHog to collect standard information about how the site is used: pages viewed, the links and buttons used, approximate location, device and browser. In the apps we use PostHog alone, to collect the screens viewed, when the app is opened and closed, approximate location, device and app version. If you are signed in, PostHog links this to your account by its internal ID, never your name or email address, so we can see how the site and the apps are used across visits. The apps do not use Google Analytics or any advertising tools.

How we use it

• To pass your enquiry to the agent or developer for the home you asked about.
• To pass your valuation request to local estate agents, who will contact you to arrange it.
• To respond to you and follow up on your enquiry or valuation request.
• To run your account: keeping your saved and hidden homes, lists and searches the same on the website and in the app, leaving the homes you hide out of your searches and alerts, showing the lists you share to the people you invite, and sending the email alerts and app notifications you set up.
• To understand how the site is used and improve it, for example from the reasons people give for hiding a home.
• To send you marketing about similar homes, but only if you have opted in.

Our lawful bases are our agreement with you when you create an account, set up alerts or share a list, your consent (for marketing), and our legitimate interest in operating a property portal and passing on the enquiries and valuation requests you have chosen to send.

Who we share it with

When you send an enquiry we share your details with the agent or developer for that home, so they can reply to you. When you ask for a valuation we share your details and the property's with local estate agents, so they can arrange it. Once they hold your details they are a separate data controller and their own privacy policy applies.

If you share a list of homes, the people who join it can see the list's name, the homes in it, who added each one, and each member's first name and the first letter of their surname. Anyone who has the list's invite link can see its name, the first name and surname initial of the person who made it, and how many homes and people are in it, before they join. Whoever made a list can remove people from it or reset its link, and anyone can leave a list at any time.

We also use service providers who process data on our behalf: Cloudflare (hosting and storage), Clerk (sign-in and accounts), Postmark (email delivery), Ideal Postcodes (address lookups), Apple (notifications in the iPhone and iPad app), Google (maps, and your location when you tap "Near me", in the Android app), Google Analytics (website analytics) and PostHog (website and app analytics). Postcodes you search for may be looked up with postcodes.io. We do not sell your personal information.

Some of these providers process information outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, we rely on the safeguards UK data protection law provides for those transfers, such as adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries and valuation requests for up to 24 months so we can handle follow-up questions and understand demand, then delete them. Valuation answers you never send are deleted after 30 days. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' and PostHog's standard retention settings.

We keep your account, and the homes, lists and searches saved to it and the homes you hid, until you delete it. When you delete your account, we delete it and everything it keeps, including any lists you made, for everyone in them. You leave any lists you joined, and homes you added to someone else's list stay in it. Enquiries and valuation requests you have sent are kept as described above.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, ask for it in a portable format, and withdraw consent to marketing at any time. To exercise any of these, contact us using the details below.

You can also delete your account yourself at any time: in the app, under Account, then Delete account; on the website, under Account settings. Our Delete your account page sets out the steps and what is deleted.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics and PostHog to measure how the website is used. Their cookies are not essential to the site working, and you can block them in your browser settings or with a browser extension.

If you sign in on the website, Clerk sets cookies that keep you signed in. These are essential to your account working. The apps do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
