About this property
Nestled within approximately 37 acres of stunning estate grounds, the property forms part of a charming conversion of an 18th century B listed mansion, into 15 unique individual residences. Historically, Arthurstone Estate originally belonged to the Cistercian Abbey before the Reformation, of Coupar Angus and later passed to the son of Donald Campbell, the famous Abbot and a son of the Earl of Argyll. The present house was built by Captain James Ramsay, abolitionist, in the 1790s. By 1869 it came into the hands of Peter Carmichael, head of the renowned industrialists Baxters of Dundee. It remained in the Carmichael family until 1990, when it became, for a short while, a small independent school for girls, closing in 2003.
