Maltings Place occupies the former site of the Sarson’s vinegar factory, one of Bermondsey’s notable industrial landmarks. Founded in 1863 by Henry John Sarson and his son, Frederick John Sarson, the factory produced a range of vinegars, including malt, spirit and cider vinegar, and played an important role in the area’s rich manufacturing history. The factory continued to operate successfully until the early 1990s, before closing in 1991 and later being sensitively redeveloped into the mixed-use Maltings Place development.
