About this property

A magnificent period Grade II listed house with origins dating back to the early 18th century. Skinner House is an imposing property rebuilt in 1695 with 16th century origins. It provides generously proportioned accommodation, arranged over three floors, and has an unusual wealth of original features and history. The Trompe l’Oeil decoration of the hall, staircase and one bedroom is believed to date from the early 1700s. It was discovered by the current owner and restored by an expert. There are also twelve decorative painted landscape panels that date from the same period and are thought to be the work of an itinerant Dutch artist.
