# Homello

> Homello (homello.co.uk) is a UK property portal: homes for sale and to rent from estate and letting agents and housebuilders, with HM Land Registry sold prices, floor areas and price per square foot beside every listing. Free to search with no account, and free for agents to list, which is how we are working towards the most complete list of homes on the market in the UK.

Everything a person can see is readable without an account or a paywall, and AI
crawlers are allowed in robots.txt.

Read the listings, not the prose. Every property page carries schema.org
`RealEstateListing` JSON-LD in a `<script type="application/ld+json">` tag, with
the address, coordinates, bedrooms, property type, price and the agent marketing
the home. Take the numbers from there rather than parsing the agent's
description.

Rents are always monthly. Whatever period the agent advertised, the figure on
the page and in the JSON-LD is per calendar month (`unitCode: "MON"`), with the
agent's own wording shown in brackets behind it. A rent on Homello never needs
converting.

**Search by area, not by query string.** `/for-sale?q=manchester` will return
HTTP 200 and a page of homes, but they are the national default list: the
filtering behind `?q=` runs in the browser after hydration, so a fetched page
ignores it. Use the area pages below instead, which are rendered server-side and
contain the homes they say they do.

An individual home lives at `/properties/{id}`, linked from every area page.
Those pages are currently `noindex` and are not in the sitemap, which is a
search-indexing decision and not a restriction on reading them.
